Case Studies

We have the capability to be the single point of contact for our customers, whatever their requirements across a range of renewable technologies. Our services have been used by a wide range of public and private sector clients.

Here are examples of some of projects undertaken.

Solar Thermal

Solar Thermal is invariably associated with water heating. Not only is it one of the most cost effective ways of utilising solar energy, it is a very quick, relatively inexpensive and easy way to start reducing carbon footprint.

Solar thermal solutions are readily available, the technology is well proven having been used throughout the world for many years.

solar water heatingAshton Fire Station in Slate Lane is part of Greater Manchester Fire Brigade. It has been purpose built to replace the existing station on Hodgson Street. This development was led by Kier and consists of a new £2.1 million, 800 square metre station. Our roof mounted, accepted solution for Hot Water requirements for ablutions and catering included a 20m square Solar Thermal Array which is now delivering datalogged hot water into the building.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV)

Solar PV solutions can be used in stand alone, off grid applications or to complement existing on-grid applications to reduce dependence on traditional power sources.

Solar PV solutions include street lights, car park lighting, remote CCTV security applications, water pumping, signage, and safety lighting.

These solutions avoid the costs of laying in mains power whilst reducing the carbon footprint, showcasing sustainable technology, creating safe areas at night and all without increasing the environmental impact.

Clients enjoying these benefits include Kensington Developments, B&Q, Chevron, Forestry Commission Aberystwyth University, Blackpool Borough Council, and many others.

On Grid solutions include using new technology to support any normal mains power applications. Clients are evaluating canopy lighting, pumping and general power production. Our partner, BP Solar work closely with us to develop grid connect solutions.

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)

GSHP enable space heating and cooling using the earth as a constant temperature heat source/sink, powered by solar energy.

They have been widely embraced in the education sector by a number of establishments, including Liverpool University

Biomass

Biomass is where high efficiency wood chip or pellet burning boilers are used to produce heat or steam.

A wood pellet project for the Old School in Eglwys Fach commissioned in November 2007 with 20 KW rating took 3 months from design to commissioning and is the first of its type in the UK.

Wind Turbines

Wind turbines are an established technology for both large scale and domestic power generation and are growing in popularity. Micro generation is especially effective when supplementing solar devices combining small wind with solar PV solutions and we have supplied this technology to many residential users.

True founder Ian Tansley worked extensively in the environmental impact, feasibility study and sitting of a 2.4 MW wind farm at Rheidol now operated by Eon.

He also conducted feasibility studies for 130 turbine farm in southern Scotland ( 40MW) and Cemmaes,(7.5 MW), the first wind farm in Wales.
